How will my plants be shipped?
All of our plants are shipped bare-rooted, that is, without pot and soil.
Roots are wrapped separately in soft tissues and then the entire plant is wrapped in tissue paper.
We take great care and pride in our packing skills ensuring your plants arrive in pristine condition.
What should I do when my plants arrive?
Crack open the Seasol and celebrate!
But once that’s done, here are a few quick tips to help your new plant friends settle into their new home.
You should pot up your plants as soon as possible.
Place them somewhere very sheltered for a few days and then gradually increase the intensity of light until they reach their intended spot.
Time in transit will determine how long the acclimation process should be.
Most orders arrive in 1–3 days which means it will only take a week or so to settle your new plant friends in.
We grow all of our plants with the intention of providing as much light as possible without causing damage.
What does that mean?
Our plants are not grown “softly” – a practice very common in the nursery industry which leads to faster but weaker growth.
As with any relocation, it takes time to settle in and we recommend taking things slowly for at least a week and monitoring your plants to ensure they are settling in well.
If you notice scorching or burning – which is unlikely but possible – immediately move the plant to a sheltered spot and then begin working your way back up to stronger light.
When should I water my new plants?
A light water one week after potting will help your new plants settle in.
For this first water, the water should reach the bottom of the pot but not be pouring out.
After that, wait a week to ten days (depending on time of year) and water lightly again.
Once the above two cycles are completed you can resume your regular schedule.
We do not recommend misting plants to settle them in and would caution against misting or getting the body wet during the establishment phase.
Where do your plants come from?
Everything we sell is grown by us.
Almost exclusively from seed with very few exceptions.
What are the exceptions?
We have been collecting plants for over ten years. During this time we have acquired some exceptional specimens which we have propagated within the nursery enabling us to share these incredible plants with you.
The exceptions make up less than 5% of our total inventory.
Are cacti & succulents difficult to grow?
Some are.
Cacti & succulents are a very diverse group of plants. With this comes varying degrees of difficulty.
There can even be variances within one particular group.
For example:
Lobivia – they are generally fuss-free and easy to care for, however there are a few within the family that represent a bit more of a challenge.
We often include the difficulty level within our listings.
Why are some listings marked as ‘exact plant’ and others not?
We offer single listings where you get the exact plant pictured, and then other times the image will be indicative of the size plant you will receive – this is always noted in the description.
What if my plants arrive damaged?
If the box arrives damaged – take photos BEFORE opening it. Take multiple photos and reach out to us.
All orders are insured and we’ll work with you to resolve any issues quickly.
Do you have any care resources?
Check out our growing guides for more in-depth info on how to grow your plants for the long haul.
Will you restock sold out items?
Our inventory is always changing. Some items are short run and will never return. Others will be available in the future.
Keep in mind these are slow growing plants, so it may be several years before something becomes available again – so don’t miss out.
Can I request a specific plant not currently listed?
Send us a message.
We may have the plant you’re after chilling out in the nursery somewhere.
Do you offer wholesale?
We do not offer wholesale but do have super specials from time to time which are competitive with wholesale pricing without needing to buy the volume of wholesale.
